Update: November 5, 2008, 6:30 pm
Jake got out of surgery and we received some very good news. Jake's forearm is showing signs of life!!! They even moved him out of ICU. They will do the same type of surgeries over the next couple weeks to continue to help the muscle come back to life. The doctors were very encouraged with what they saw. They are still going to try to repair the radial nerve in his arm that controls the movement of his wrist and thumb and will need to do skin grafts to close the long incision down his arm. We are all so excited and grateful for the great news! Again, thank you for your support and prayers!

We are so thankful for the Good News. We love all of you and are continuing our prayers that Jake will have the strength to go through all the things ahead. Also with your family in all they need to do in the upcoming weeks. He looks so good. We love all of you and tell Jake that we have our thoughts with him.

That is great news! I still haven't heard back from my dad, but I did just get a phone call from a good friend of ours who just moved here after finishing his fellowship in orthopaedic surgery. He does the exact kind of thing that Jake's doctors do - an extra resource if you need it. He's out in Peoria, working some at John C. Lincoln and some at Sun City West. What hospital is Jake in?
