As many of you know, Jacob was in a serious accident on Halloween night. He was riding his motorcycle on Bush Highway at 10:00 pm. Anyone who knows Jake, knows he is a bit of a dare devil and probably was going a little faster than he should. He came around a corner, couldn't slow down fast enough and launched off into a ravine.
After the shock wore off, he tried to get up and found that his leg and his arm were severely broken and he was unable to move. He thought he better elevate his arm so he propped it up on a branch from one of the trees. His bike was being held up by a branch above him and he feared that at any moment it may tumble down on top of him. But, the little branch held strong. Every time he saw the lights of a vehicle shining, he would scream for help. No one could hear him. During the night Jake said he heard an animal walking around him and prayed for help. He prayed all night and thought of his girlfriend Savannah to get him through.
Then, around 8:00 am a bicyclist was on his Saturday morning ride. Jake could see out of the corner of his eye an orange object moving towards him, so he began yelling for help. The man, wearing an orange jersey heard him and saw Jake at the bottom of the ravine. Reed, the bicyclist climbed down to where Jake was. Jake asked him for some water and then asked if he was LDS. Reed was and Jake asked him for a blessing. Jacob said it was one of the most spiritual experiences he's ever had and that he will never forget him. Reed flagged a car down and another man, Jerry stopped and called 911. Jake's two angels took care of him until help arrived. They made him as comfortable as they could. Jerry even gave him a pillow from his car and cell phone to call loved ones.
The fire department arrived and pulled Jake up the cliff with ropes and about 10 men. He was so relieved to be out and alive. He was then air evacuated to the hospital. Jake had no pulse in his right arm due to a severed artery and lying in the ravine for so long with no circulation. His arm was in bad shape. He also broke his right femur and had a few bumps, bruises and scratches.
Once at the hospital, the doctor's focused on Jake's arm. They cut it open from his arm pit to his wrist to let everything drain and to try to stimulate the muscles. We were first told that he may lose his arm at the shoulder. To make a long story short, the upper muscle is now functioning properly; we still have hope for the forearm. He also has regained some sensation in his fingers.
Jake will be in ICU for the next couple weeks while doctors work on his arm. We are so thankful that he is alive. We have received a lot of calls and many people have fasted in his behalf. Thank you!! Please continue to pray for him as he is still in the early stages of recovery. Again, we love you and thank you for your support and prayers.

This blog has been put together beautifully. I read it with Layla and when we finished she looked at me and said, " Mom that is just so sad. I am sorry that his arms and his legs are hurting."
He is in our prayers and on our minds.
